from While You Were Sleeping
Focus IN ( 重点聚焦 )

Saul: Did you know that I was Peter s godfather?
Lucy: Really? I thought you had to be Catholic that.

Lucy: You re lucky, I mean, it s important to have family around this time of year.
Saul: Are you … I mean, are your parents with you?
Lucy: No, no, my mom died when I was really young, and a couple of years ago my dad got sick, and we moved from Indiana to Chicago, so we could go to Research Hospital.
Saul: “ Research, ” a medical term for “ very expensive. ” huh?
Lucy: Yeah exactly, I had to quit school and I started working for the CTA, and about a year ago, he decided he had had enough research and he passed away.
Saul: My wife of 51 years passed away, two years ago, February the 9th.
Lucy: Sorry.
Saul: Yeah, it was a rough time for me.
Lucy: Yeah.

Being a godfather is very important to Catholic.
Collecting stamps will cost you a lot of money. Privacy is important to her.
It s important to have family around this time of year.
It is necessary to do something. It is useful to do something.
Are your parents with you?
Is your parents still alive?
— I d never let anyone hurt them
— Neither would I.
She is rather smart, so is her brother.

James: You re not like my other teachers, Professor Tripp.
Tripp: You re not like my other students, James. Look James, about this afternoon workshop, I m sorry. I think I let things get a little out of hand.
James: They really hated it. I think they hated it more than any of the other ones.
Tripp: Well …
James: It doesn t matter. It only took me an hour to write.
Tripp: Really? That s remarkable.
James: I have trouble sleeping. While I m lying in bed I figure them out, the stories.
Tripp: You cold, James?
James: Oh, a little.
Tripp: Why don t we go inside?
James: It s colder in there.
Tripp: I guess you re right.
James: Actually I saw the green house. I thought I d come outside and take a look at it. Looks like heaven.
Tripp: Looks like heaven?
James: I saw a movie once, part of it took place in heaven and everyone wore white, lived in crystal houses like that. I really should be going. Goodbye, Professor Tripp.
Tripp: Hey James, James, don t go. No. Now there s something I want you to see.
James: If I miss my bus …
Tripp: It s worth it. Trust me.

I let things get a little out of hand.
[ 剖析 ] 感到无法控制或不可收拾在英语表示为 get out of hand 或是 get out of control ,实际上 hand 在这里就相当于 control 的意思,意为“控制”。 The meeting is getting out of hand/control.
It doesn t matter.
It doesn t matter to if I miss the train, because there s another one later.
It only took me an hour to write.
It took all afternoon to finish it.
to figure out 想出,领会到
I couldn t figure out who he was.
It s worth it.
We may not succeed, but it s worth a try. He is worthy of our respect.
